FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What are the booking requirements?
A: We ask for a 25-percent deposit within 7 days of booking. The reservation is not confirmed until the deposit and a signed contract are received. We do not accept credit cards. The deposit is refundable up to 60 days prior to the first day of the reservation. Final payment is due 30 days prior to the first day of the reservation.
The cancellation policy is as follows:
Cancellations from 59 to 30 days prior to the start of the reservation will result in forfeiture of the deposit.
After final payment is made, cancellations from 29 to 10 days prior to the start of the reservation will result in 50% of the payment being retained; if cancelled less than 10 days prior, the full amount of the payment will be retained.
Q: When should we arrive?
A: All bookings run from Saturday to Saturday. We ask that you arrive between 3 and 5 p.m. Check out is by 10 a.m. If the caretaker is not at the apartment when you arrive, the key will be left in the door for you.
Q. Do you allow smoking in the apartment?
A: La Loggia is a non-smoking apartment.
Q: Is there daily maid service?
A: The apartment will be cleaned prior to your arrival. There is a final cleaning on your day of departure. Daily service is not available. For multiple week rentals, new linens will be provided each Saturday of your stay.
Q: Can we do our laundry there?
A: Yes. There is a washing machine in one of the bathrooms and there is a clothesline in the back yard.
Q: Do you supply any food items or cleaning supplies?
A: The apartment is supplied with amenities to make your stay comfortable--linens, towels, cooking utensils, etc. Renters should plan to stop at a supermercato or alimentari prior to arriving at the apartment to ensure that all needs are met. Buy enough toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo and food to stock the apartment for your stay. Shop at the small grocery stores in Sarteano, Radicofani or Pienza for the best breads, cheeses, meats, etc. Pienza also has a Coop, which is one of the local supermarket chains.
Q: Are linens supplied?
A: The apartment will be furnished with clean bed linens and a set of towels for each renter. Pool towels are not included and are the responsibility of the renters.
Q: Will we have Internet access?
A: Yes. There is Wi-fi in the apartment. The renters’ handbook gives clear instructions on how to access it and the password to use to log on.
Q: When is the pool open?
A: The pool is open and maintained from about June 1 to mid-September depending on the weather. Poolside furniture may be used by our guests on a first come, first serve basis. Pool towels are not supplied with the apartment and will have to be brought from home or purchased. Please use the poolside shower prior to entering the pool.
Q: Do we have to rent a car to visit the apartment?
A: The apartment is in a quiet, pristine part of the Val d’Orcia, which is only accessible by car. While there are train stations in close proximity, it would not be practical to plan a trip using only public transportation. If you are planning a day trip to Florence, we would recommend taking the train from Chiusi, as the traffic and parking in Florence can be stressful. All other towns are easily accessible by car and Italian roadways are in good condition and well marked. Driving in Italy is no more difficult than driving any other new destination.
Q: Will there be any other people staying at the house while we are there?
A: Each of the five apartments is individually owned so it’s difficult to know who will be there and who will not. Whether you are alone or not, the apartment has a private entrance. The terrace at the top of the stairs, as well as the dining area below the stairs are for the private use of our apartment.
